Loving Father Figure

Earl Henry Matthews, 79, of Sandy Hook, died August 6, at Castle Point (N.Y.) Veterans Hospital.

He was a loving father figure to Louis Romano and wife, Denise, and their two children of Sandy Hook. He is survived by his sisters Erma, Mary, Irene, and brothers, John and Carl.

He was honorably discharged after serving three years in the US Army, B Battery, 58th Field Artillery, in the Korean War.

More recently he will be remembered as the operator of the Fun House for Stewart Amusement Co. for many years, where he was known as “Uncle Earl.”

A burial was held in Ephrata, Penn., August 11. A memorial service will be held at St Rose Church, Newtown, Sunday, August 16, at 2:30 pm.
