 YORK, PENN. â The Original 151st Semiannual York Antiques Show & Sale is scheduled for August 29â31 at Memorial Hall East within the downtown York Fairgrounds Convention & Expo Center. This popular event will feature 96 exhibitors in room settings offering a full range of antiques.
According to show manager Melvin L. Arion, the merchandise at York will run the full gamut, from Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century period American and English furniture in hardwoods to country pieces sporting original paint and decoration; fine early porcelain like Staffordshire, delft, Canton and Chinese Export, pottery such as redware and stoneware, Oriental carpets, quilts, hooked rugs, samplers and other textiles, estate jewelry, Native American pottery and weavings, early kitchen and fireplace items.
Given the showâs reputation, dealer turnover is slight; however, a few of the older exhibitors have retired from the business. New faces at the show are Bob Jessen-Jim Hohnwald, Fitzwilliam, N.H.; Dark Moon Antiques, Johsonburg, N.J.; Tom and Rose Cheap from Period Antiques, Scottsburg, Ind.; and Linens by Church Hill Antiques, Pikesville, Md.
From Pennsylvania will be dealers Robert M. Conrad of Yeagertown and Dale Hunt of The Pembroke Shop in Wayne.
Show hours Friday and Saturday are 10 am to 6 pm, and Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm. Admission is $10, or $9 with this article. The convention center is at 334 Carlisle Avenue.
