Bânai Israel Receives Award
DANBURY â Congregation Bânai Israel has won an honorable mention award for the âexcellence of its family educationâ in a competition conducted by United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, the parent organization for Conservative synagogues all over the country.
In citing Congregation Bânai Israel, the Awards Committee pointed out that the winners in this category are a source of pride not only to themselves but to the United Synagogue as well. âPlease know,â the citation continues, âyour efforts will serve as a model for your fellow congregations.â
Congregation Bânai Israel, represented by its Rabbi, Rabbi Vivie Mayer, and Congregation Co-Presidents Shalom Lampell and Gail Friedman, will be personally honored at an Official Awards Presentation Ceremony to be held in February in Washington, D.C.
Family education planning at Bânai Israel originates primarily from Rabbi Mayer, who has introduced many new and creative programs for both children and adults since she brought her concept of âJudaism for Today in a Warm and Caring Environmentâ to the synagogue 4½ years ago.
