Cannon Grange To Hold 67th Annual Agricultural Fair

WILTON — Cannon Grange 152 will hold its 67th Annual Agricultural Fair on the Grange Hall grounds on Sunday, August 27, from 10 am to 4 pm, rain or shine. Cannon Grange is located at 25 Cannon Road in Wilton, just off US Route 7.

Admission to the fair is $1, and free for children 12 years and under. Free parking is available at nearby Allen’s Meadows and the Cannondale railroad station.

Highlights of the Fair will include judged exhibits and competitions in baked goods, homegrown fruits and vegetables, flowers, crafts and collections, photography, sewing and needlework, poultry, fowl, eggs and rabbits. Most departments offer categories for children to enter and win ribbons. There will also be featured a tag sale, baked goods sale, Cannon Grange souvenirs and a grocery basket raffle. Civic and educational exhibits will be displayed on the grounds. There will be adult and junior baking contests, a quilt contest and a two-crust apple pie contest; all co-sponsored by the Connecticut Association of Fairs.

Other events at the Cannon Grange Fair will include concessionaires, snack tent and children’s games. Several fun contests for adults and children to enter and play will take place during the afternoon. A working oxen show will be presented in the early afternoon to demonstrate the skills of a team of oxen with their driver. In the early afternoon, there will be the exciting watermelon eating contest for youth, teens and adults. Local talent will provide music and entertainment throughout the day. Cannon Grange Agricultural Fair is an authentic agricultural fair that heartily recalls Wilton’s rural past. The competitions and exhibits are open to everyone: both youth and adult. Neither Grange membership nor Wilton residency is required to participate in any of the Fair events.
