The Dodgingtown Volunteer Fire Company has received approval for a federal grant of more than $100,000 for 13 air masks and spare air-supply equipment for firefighting.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved a $107,540 Assistance to Firefighters grant for the volunteer fire company.

US Senators Richard Blumenthal, Chris Murphy, and US Representative Elizabeth Esty  announced in a statement that the fire company will receive the money.

“We are proud to announce today’s grant to the Dodgingtown Volunteer Fire Company in Newtown,” said Blumenthal, Murphy, and Esty.

“Day in and day out, these brave men and women put their lives on the line to keep us safe. We must do what we can to ensure that they have the equipment they need. These funds will help the Dodgingtown Volunteer Fire Company continue to do their life-saving jobs safely and effectively,” the three said in the statement.

The Dodgingtown fire company organized in 1909.
