Frederick Walter Benton
Frederick Walter Benton, 79, of Waldorf, Md., died August 7 of natural causes at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn. He was born August 28, 1933, in Greenwich, the son of Edith Elizabeth and Frederick Harold Benton.
His sister Jacqueline B. Plancon and brother Richard Douglas Benton of Hawleyville; five children, Terri Lee Barrette of Bethel, Sandra Colleen Benton of Waterbury, Stephen Harold Benton of Gainesville, Va., Susan Elizabeth Lusby of Prince Frederick, Md., and Kimberly Lee Benton of Columbia, Md.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren survive Mr Benton.
After attending Newtown High School, Mr Benton served in the US Air Force, before he was drafted into the US Army to serve in the Vietnam Conflict. He then settled in New Jersey, where he retired from the Army after 20 years of service.
He was employed as an investigator for the US Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1997.
Mr Benton’s passions were golf and music. He was also strongly involved in church activities and played music in the church band. What he loved most was to spend time with his family, friends, and most of all, his grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received for Mr Benton’s Life Celebration, Saturday, August 17, at noon, at Lifestream Church of the Nazarene, Waldorf.
