CARA Hamfest Returning September 8
The Candlewood Amateur Radio Association (CARA) will present its annual Western Connecticut Hamfest on Sunday, September 8, from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm. The event will again be in the gymnasium and lower parking lot of Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street.
Admission is $6, free for ages 10 and under. Parking is free, and the building is handicapped accessible.
The Hamfest will include commercial vendors including (tentatively) KJI Electronics, Radio Oasis, and Sauder Electronics, along with tailgating, ham radio equipment and computer gear, door prizes, and refreshments.
This year’s raffle prize is a new mobile rig. Raffle tickets are $5.
Bill Thoren (N1TIW) will present a seminar on “Samuel F.B. Morse: Artist and Inventor.”
While approaching the event or for those who cannot attend, a talk-in will be running on the CARA W1QI Repeater, 147.300(+) PL 100.0. Close-in talk will be at 146.550 simplex.
For those who wish to tailgate, a $10 fee will cover one space along with admission to the festival. Indoor tables are available to rent for $15 per space. Set-up will begin at 7 am.
