Newtown Youth Academy Adult Flag Football Highlights

The boys from Nutmeg Wine & Spirit in Southbury recently won the first Turf Bowl at The Newtown Youth Academy. The Monday Night Adult Flag Football had five teams in the recently-completed inaugural season. Nutmeg Wine & Spirit defeated Newtown Tree service in the championship game. The One Eyed Pig finished third, The Spartans were fourth, and The Indians fifth.

The league’s second season is underway and recent game highlights are as follows:

Newtown Whalers 34, Spartans 22: Steve Vichiola ran in a touchdown and connected with Mike Kennedy twice, Joey Feola and Dave McLaughlin once for touchdowns in the air. Jay Arsenault had two TDs and Al davis had one for the Spartans.

Toro 34, Spartans 26: Gregory Peck threw four touchdowns to Tyrone Huch but it wasn’t enough to stop Toro, which was led by two touchdowns each by Matt McCawley and Carl Doty.

Indians 48, Smart Power 19: Adam Hayden had three TDs, and Anthony Mason, Bob Pattison, and Jeff LaFlamme all scored in the win. Willie Fernandez, Joe Ford, and Nathan Bernardo scored for Smart Power.

Toro 43, Smart Power 6: Gabe Giusti, Sabian Cardona, Carl Doty, and Ace McCawley each got in the end zone once in the win. John O’Leary scored the only TD for Smart Power.

Indians 18, Whalers 12: Adam Dean, Jason Kmac, and Matt Hawks all got to the end zone for the Indians. Jack Quinn and Mike Klein scored for the Whalers.

Spartans 33, Whalers 12: Ryan Crowley cored twice, and Randy Ho, Tyrone, and Gregory Peck helped lead the Spartans’ offense. Jack Quinn and Mike Klein scored for the Whalers.
