Judith Ann Grosner

‘The World Is A Better Place, That Judy Made It So’

Judith Ann Grosner, 66, died August 5, at the family homestead in Stratford.

Three siblings, including George Grosner of Newtown, survive Ms Grosner. Several cherished nephews and nieces, and grandnephews and nieces also survive her.

Stricken with polio at age 9, Ms Grosner was given little chance to survive. Through determination, medical science, and some luck, she did survive. She graduated from Stratford High School and from St Joseph’s College in West Hartford, all the while in back and leg braces, and mainly confined to a wheelchair.

She began her career with the State of Connecticut in the Welfare Department. She became a supervisor in the Department of Human Services, concentrating on improving the lives of abused and homeless children. She retired after 30 years of service.

Ms Grosner placed family and friends above all, always encouraging, helping, and entertaining those in need, and loving them all.

She was lovingly cared for by Lyuda Ligouri. The family wishes to recognize Dottie Lane, and all of her other friends and helpers over the years.

Funeral services were August 11. Interment was in St John’s Cemetery, Stratford.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Polio Outreach of Connecticut through the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford CT 06614-4094.

Online condolences may be offered at adzimafuneralhome.com.
