Develop Your Chops
Develop Your Chops
Julie Cook, director of Julieâs Piano Workshop, has announced âDevelop Your Chops!,â a free monthly class for registered students this fall.
During each hour long class students will focus on honing one skill, such as lightning fast tremolos or a jazzy bassline. They may also share favorite pieces and original works, and trade âby heartâ melodies. Inspiring guest artists, from advanced high school students to professional pianists, will also be involved.
Ms Cook developed the idea for the class by observing the way guitar students often share riffs and songs, learning from each other with ease and joy. She wanted to offer piano students the same opportunity to be excited about learning new skills in a group setting.
Besides Ms Cook, the classes will be conducted by faculty instructors Alina Henriques, Meg Thomas, Irina Virovets and Francine Wheeler.
Julieâs Piano Workshop has served Newtown and surrounding towns for 27 years. The studio offers private piano lessons and voice lessons for children and adults, providing a solid foundation combined with creative expression. Students perform at area nursing homes twice during the year and participate in a spring piano celebration.
