Paint-Out & Auction For Kent Art Assn.

KENT — Kent Art Association (KAA) is inviting artists from throughout the region to paint local scenes and then sell their work at auction. The 81-year-old KAA will hold its second annual Paint-Out & Auction on Saturday, August 21.

The first 85 artists who register will have the opportunity to paint or sketch outdoors in an area that has drawn artists for generations. Artists will also have the chance to mingle during an afternoon reception, before their work is auctioned at The KAA Gallery.

Registration opens at 9 am at the gallery, 21 South Main Street (Route 7). The registration fee is $25.

Pre-registration is suggested. Artists should send their name, address, phone number and a check for $25 (payable to KAA) to KAA, PO Box 202, Kent CT 06757. Call 860-927-3989 for confirmation or additional information.

Once registered, artists will be given a box lunch and can set out to work in Kent or the surrounding area. Artists are due back at the gallery by 3 pm with framed art for sale. Each artist may also submit one other framed work, previously completed, for the auction.

The public auction will begin at 4, and will be conducted at the gallery. Admission is free.

Guest auctioneer this year is Del Bourree Bach.

Bidding on all lots will open at $100. The hammer price for each lot will be divided between the artist and the art association.
