Mr and Mrs Gordon John Johnson

Susan Jane Mallabar and Gordon John Johnson were married on May 15 at Newtown Meeting House with Pastor Gregory Wismar officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Bob and Jean Mallabar of Colchester, Vt. The bridegroom is the son of Gordon and Doris Johnson of Trumbull.

The groom, who is the second engineer for Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company, arrived at the church on Hawleyville Engine 331.

The wedding party included the bride’s son, Christopher Segovia, and the groom’s children, Kindra, Gordon and Michael Johnson.

Serving as ushers were members of the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard, 1st Lt Doreen Jurgens, 1st Sgt Frank Tyszka, Sgt Robert Cornell, Sgt Jose Flavio Rosa, Cpl Jason Brade and PFC Joseph Kearney. The groom is a PFC with the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard.

There was a military “arch of swords” as the bride and groom exited from the church and again as they entered the reception. Mounted troopers escorted the bride and groom from the church to the reception in the Alexandria Room of Edmond Town Hall.

The bride and groom are volunteer EMTs with the Newtown Ambulance Corps.

The bride formerly was employed as the office manager at Mt Pleasant Hospital for Animals.

The groom is senior mechanical estimator and project engineer with James V. Ursini Company.

Following a wedding trip to Alaska, the couple is residing on Currituck Road in Newtown.
