Garner Inmate Assaults Correction Officer

State police report that Garner Correctional Institution inmate Danny L. Hines, 31, assaulted an unidentified correction officer at the high security prison on Nunnawauk Road on the afternoon of August 2.

State police charged Hines with assault on a correction officer and with refusal to be fingerprinted.

Hines was scheduled to be arraigned on August 3 in Danbury Superior Court.

Hines is serving a 24-year sentence on a first-degree assault conviction. Hines was transferred to Northern Correctional Institution in Somers after the incident.
