Opposes Appointment
To the Editor:
I learned in disbelief that Ms Meg Maurer has recently become a member of the P&Z board, and worse yet, of a subcommittee to study horse regulations.
Ms Maurerâs longstanding and bitter opposition to anything having to do with horses in this town is well documented in her aggressive battle against the Sullivans obtaining a permit for their horse farm at Zoar Ridge, and even now by being the only member opposing the recent P&Z decision to exempt a few horse barns from a strict review process.
Ms Maurer has a track record of bias against equine interests. I would have expected our first Selectman, Mr Rosenthal, to raise a minimum of opposition to Ms Maurer becoming a member of the P&Z, based solely on her partisan stand against the horse community.
When the issue of horses, permits, and sundry will appear on the P&Z agenda, we know already how Ms Maurer will stand.
As a resident of this town for over 26 years, a horse owner, and a taxpayer, I request that Ms Maurer be removed from the P&Z board, or at least from the panel of horse regulations study.
Sincerely,
Christina Kennedy
