Irene S.          Sturdevant

Irene S. Sturdevant, 89, the wife of Harry V. Sturdevant, of Pine Acres Drive, Danbury, died at Danbury Hospital on August 11.

She is survived by a son, Richard L. Sturdevant, and his wife, Marie, of Newtown.

She was born in Danbury on March 7, 1912, daughter of the late Michael and Wilhemina (Schulz) Strait. Mrs Sturdevant was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1929, and had been a Danbury resident most of her life. She had worked for many years in the operation of the family business, Sturdevant Photo Shop in Danbury. She was also one of the founding members of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in New Fairfield and had been active in the church choir.

In addition to her husband, son and daughter-in-law, Mrs Sturdevant is survived by a daughter, Marie Scholl and her husband, John, of Kent; a sister, Norma Dempsey of Green Bay, Wisc.; five grandchildren, John Scholl, Jr, Leslie Ackerman, Kristin Silvestri, Stephen Scholl, and Michael Sturdevant; three great-grandchildren, Casey Scholl, Mollie Silvestri, and Sean Silvestri; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held at Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd, 2 Colonial Road in New Fairfield, on August 15. Cremation was at the convenience of the family.

Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street in Danbury, was in charge of arrangements.
