Raoul P. LaMarche, 92, died peacefully, August 4, after a long illness, at The Village at Brookfield Common, in Brookfield. He was born May 11, 1919, in New Haven, to Margaret (Hugo) and Raoul J. LaMarche.
Mr LaMarche is survived by his four children, including Robert J. LaMarche, and his wife Martha, of Newtown; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr LaMarche was raised in Fair Haven, and during World War II he served as a member of the 15th Engineers Battalion of the US Army 9th Infantry. Afterward, he worked for more than 30 years as an underwriter for Nationwide Insurance.
He loved to play golf, fish, and travel with his family, and was known for his good humor and knack of making instant friends with just about everyone he met. Mr LaMarche was a great lover of dogs, most recently enjoying time with his âgranddog,â Frosty, that also recently passed on.
In the early 1980s, he moved to Gainesville, Fla., with his wife, Dorothy, who died in 2002. Both were active members of Queen of Peace Catholic Community in that city.
His funeral took place August 10. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
