Amber Room Run From The Sun To Benefit Annâs Place
DANBURY â The 3rd Annual Amber Room Run From the Sun 5K takes place on August 18 and again benefits Annâs Place. Runners and walkers can participate. The race starts at 6:30 pm at The Amber Room Colonnade on Stacey Road.
Last yearâs event doubled in size, and this year the race committee anticipates hundreds more to turn out for the event.
The certified 5K (3.1 miles) course runs from The Amber Room to Candlewood Lake and back. This year a one mile Health Walk is being introduced as well. Both courses pass scenic water views, stately homes and old lake communities. After the race participants are invited to a postrace party featuring an outdoor barbeque, beer, cold beverages, and live music.
âI am glad the local business and running communities come together each year to support such a worthy cause,â states the eventâs creator Jennifer Putnam. âOur goal is to create a fun event that runners look forward to every summerâ.
The first 250 registered runners receive technical running shirts and the registration fee waived for those who raise $100 or more for Annâs Place. Awards will be given to the fastest runners in numerous age groups.
Annâs Place, The Home of I Can, provides comfort and support for people living with cancer and their loved ones, and inspires people to create solutions that will strengthen and sustain them. The vision of Annâs Place is to create a sanctuary of support and resources for people living with cancer and their loved ones.
âThe running community sets great twin examples of building healthy habits and supporting local charities,â states Wilda Hayes, executive director of Annâs Place. âWe are privileged to partner with all the runners, the Amber Room and all the generous sponsors of the Run From the Sun 5K who have stepped forward to support free services for our neighbors touched by cancer. At a time of urgent needs within the cancer community, each runner and each sponsor can make a real difference in someoneâs life.â
JB Sports, coordinator of the Stratton Faxon Danbury and New Haven Road Races, will coordinate this event with Jennifer Putnam of The Amber Room. Participants can register now at www.jbsports.com or call 203-481-5933 for information.
