Shakespeare Ventures

To Present ‘Macbeth’

FAIRFIELD — Shakespeare Ventures, the professional theatre company based on the campus of Fairfield University, is presenting William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, as its production for the 2005 summer season. This tragedy of power and passion will run for one more weekend, through August 11-13. Curtain is 8 pm in the PepsiCo Theatre on the Fairfield University campus.

Macbeth, Shakespeare’s great play of temptation, ambition and seduction, is the company’s first full-length professional production.

The Scottish tragedy centers on Macbeth’s bloody rise to power, in which guilty evil deeds generate even more evil deeds all due to the evil aspirations of his wife, Lady Macbeth. The play is full of ambiguity and double meanings, leaving the audience to think that nothing is really what it sees to be.

Shakespeare Venture’s Artistic Director Lynne Porter, a Fairfield resident, is directing the production. She is also the scenic designer and is joined by assistant director, Katie Mooney, of Milford; lighting designer, James Burns, of Longhorne, Penn.; and costume designer, Julie Leavitt, of New Milford. Doug Durlacher, a Media, Penn., resident, will portray Macbeth and Danielle Liccardo of Asbury Park, N.J., will play Lady Macbeth as they delve into a world of corruption and murder.

The cast also includes Travis Finlayson of Newtown, Tess Brown of Trumbull, Mark Robinson of Harrisburg, Penn., Kevin Smith of Norwalk, and Teresa Kona-Leone of Stratford.

Jill Amato, of Ramsey, N.J., and Lauren Satos, of Edison, N.J., are assistant stage managers.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and senior citizens. For tickets, call Shakespeare Ventures at 203-254-4000, extension 3406. For more information, contact Shakespeare Ventures at 203-254-4000, extension 3406, or email at ShakespeareVenture@mail.Fairfield.edu.
