Real Samaritans
Real Samaritans
To the Editor:
There are two real Samaritans in Newtown. A short while ago while visiting a dear friend who recently moved to Newtown, I tried to back down an obliquely angled hill on the driveway and precariously rolled one wheel off his stone retaining wall. Recently I had come out of the hospital for an emergency procedure resulting from my battle with ovarian cancer and am sure I was an uncertain navigator.
Panicked, we sought help at Town Line Auto and a kind gentleman there called Greekâs Auto Body which was minutes away from Lazybrook Road and my car. George Geanuracos and an associate arrived immediately and after assessing the difficulty, went back to the shop and returned with a heavy-duty jack and planks. Minutes later the car was back on all fours and none the worse for wear.
We attempted to pay George for his time and effort but he refused any reimbursement and left as quickly as he had arrived to save the day. I canât tell you how much I appreciated his generous help and hope Newtown knows what an asset it has working there on Huntingtown Road.
