Party Should Be An Annual Event

To the Editor:

My family and I just want to say “Wow, thanks!” to all the hardworking people who put on such a terrific 300th birthday celebration for Newtown. From the Friday night jazz ensemble to the old-time baseball game, the Revolutionary War encampment, the music and the fireworks, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. And the sight of so many Newtown families playing together on the vast, open campus of Fairfield Hills was fantastic!

 I’ll bet we’re not the only Newtown residents who hope that a “townwide picnic” and fireworks display becomes an annual event. Happy Birthday, indeed, Newtown! We so appreciate the sponsors who made this fun celebration possible, and the volunteers whose vision and hard work make it happen. Great job, folks, and thanks again.
