How Long In Newtown: Weâve lived in Newtown going on nine years now. I was born and raised in Newark, N.J. We lived in Danbury before we specifically picked Newtown to relocate to because of its quintessential New England town atmosphere, with nice people and a good school system. Also it is somewhat laid back and reasonably convenient to major areas. Also our grown kids all live nearby.
Biggest Change You Have Seen In Town: Since Iâve been here the growth that has taken place is unbelievable. It seems like the population was about 20,000 when I moved here now itâs about 26,000. That is significant growth for the school system as well. Itâs consistent with the fact that itâs a highly desirable town.
Family: I am married, my wifeâs name is Maxine. We have three grown kids: a son who lives in Newtown, a daughter in Brookfield, and another daughter in New Fairfield. We have six grandkids ranging in age from 8 to 13.
Pets: We donât have pets anymore because we like to be free to travel, but we have always had a dog. Our last dog lived to be 15 and we decided it wasnât fair to get another dog if it would have to go to a kennel whenever we want to travel. We are pet lovers without a pet.
Hobbies: I really donât have any hobbies per se, however I am considered a Mr Fix It. I am reasonably proficient at that. I also do windows and floors!
Favorite Books: I am an avid reader. I probably read 40 to 50 books per year. In general I like both fiction and nonfiction books. Currently Iâm reading The Lifeguard by James Patterson. I just finished The Broker by John Grisham; I read all of his books.
Favorite Television Program: I watch a fair amount of television, which is surprising to most people who know me. I watch mostly informational shows; only shows in that venue. I like the Discovery Channel, National Geographic, the public television channel and lots of news programs.
Favorite Vacation Spot: Iâve traveled a lot. My favorite spots are the island of St Marten and all of Italy, we have good friends who live there. St Marten has fabulous beaches, weather, and restaurants.
Organizations: I stay fairly active. I am on the board of directors of the Military Museum of Southern New England. I also serve on the Industrial Advisory Board of New Jersey Institute of Technology. I am a member of the Gateway Coalition. Of course I serve on the Newtown Board of Education.
Most Vivid Memory About Newtown: I donât have one particular memory that comes to mind. Itâs such a nice town, with great people. It is in a good geographical area and it is a continual pleasure to live here.
Personal Philosophy: I believe that we can accomplish anything we want if we put our minds to it. We need to have a high level of self-discipline and if we focus we are almost always successful. I am a fundamental optimist. I guess you can sum it up by saying you can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it.
