Loose Themes For Wednesday Poetry
Loose Themes For Wednesday Poetry
BETHEL â August this year has been turned into a series of no-feature nights for Wednesday Night Poetry Series, the long-running weekly program held at Bethel Arts Junction.
Instead of featuring guest poets each week, organizers have decided to put forth a set of ideas for each week.
âThese arenât hard and fast themes, just something to give people ideas for poems to bring,â said Faith Vicinanza, the creator of WNPS.
Remaining themes this month are âI Write the Songs,â or favorite lyrics, on August 17; âTo Sleep: Perchance To Dream,â favorite lines from the theater, August 24; and âQuoth the Raven,â favorite quotes, to close the month on August 31.
Doors open at the arts junction at 7:30 pm, and the poetry starts at 7:50. There is an open mic followed by a critique workshop each week. Anyone who would like to participate in the critique session should bring ten copies of their poem to share.
