Loose Themes For Wednesday Poetry

BETHEL — August this year has been turned into a series of no-feature nights for Wednesday Night Poetry Series, the long-running weekly program held at Bethel Arts Junction.

Instead of featuring guest poets each week, organizers have decided to put forth a set of ideas for each week.

“These aren’t hard and fast themes, just something to give people ideas for poems to bring,” said Faith Vicinanza, the creator of WNPS.

Remaining themes this month are “I Write the Songs,” or favorite lyrics, on August 17; “To Sleep: Perchance To Dream,” favorite lines from the theater, August 24; and “Quoth the Raven,” favorite quotes, to close the month on August 31.

Doors open at the arts junction at 7:30 pm, and the poetry starts at 7:50. There is an open mic followed by a critique workshop each week. Anyone who would like to participate in the critique session should bring ten copies of their poem to share.
