Irish Dance Competition Returning

To Quassy Amusement Park August 27

MIDDLEBURY — Irish dancers from throughout the state of Connecticut will be competing on Saturday, August 27, during the 4th Annual Horgan Academy’s Fun Feis (competition) at Quassy Amusement Park.

The Horgan Academy of Irish Dance, which is celebrating 21 years of Irish dance education in the region, is sponsoring Naugatuck, the event will begin at 2 pm. The afternoon will feature competition as well as exhibitions, demonstrations and audience participation at the park’s Lakeside Theatre.

The competition will start with beginners and progress through the afternoon with prizewinners and champions.

Park guests may also watch the competition free of charge. Parking at Quassy is $5 per car.

The performers will wear festive, traditional costumes. There will be spectator participation during breaks between competitive age groups.

Competitors and dancers from the immediate area as well as New Milford, Cheshire, Gilford, Madison, Ansonia and Shelton are expected.
