Housing Resource Center Plans Open House

DANBURY —  Mining the complex field of housing has just become easier. Now area residents have a place to go when seeking information and resources on homeownership and rental opportunities.

The new Housing Resource Center has opened its doors to community residents seeking housing information in the greater Danbury area. This program, operated by the Housing Development Fund, Inc, is funded through a United Way of Northern Fairfield County Community Impact Initiative.

An open house will be held on August 31, from 4 to 6 pm, at the Housing Resource Center on 8 West Street, Suite 202-204. The public is invited to come learn about the services the center offers, as well as other housing activities in which the Housing Development Fund is involved.

The Housing Resource Center offers a central point of entry for individuals in the community to access housing information. The Housing Development Fund will direct people to appropriate housing related resources and programs in order to obtain and maintain housing (both rental opportunities and homeownership) within their financial means. Partnering with existing community organizations and providing outreach to the community at large will be key to the program’s success.

The United Way is funding this project in conjunction with several other initial funding partners, including Newtown Savings Bank, Savings Bank of Danbury, Union Savings Bank, and NewMil Bank.
