Garner Prisoner Complains of Assault

On the night of August 5, an inmate at the state’s high security Garner Correctional Institution complained to correction officers there that he had been assaulted, state police said.

State police said that after they arrived to investigate, the unidentified prisoner denied that he had been assaulted.

State police are investigating the case as a suspicious incident.

Garner, which opened in 1992, holds approximately 630 male inmates, most of whom have serious mental health disorders.
