Dog Violation
Dog Violation
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Michele Deluca, 51, of 2 Elm Drive turned himself over to police at the police station on the night of August 4, and was charged with failure to respond to an infraction and also with allowing a dog to roam, police said.
Police said Deluca had not responded to a past dog violation. After posting $100 bail, Deluca was released for an August 16 court appearance.
Four Charged
Police report they charged four youths with simple trespassing at about 9:30 pm on August 4, after they were found to illegally be on the grounds at the Governorâs Horse Guard at Fairfield Hills. That area is posted with âNo Trespassingâ signs, police said.
Police charged Michael Shirmer, 16; Matthew Santana, 16, and Daniel Negron, 16, all of New Fairfield. Police also charged a 15-year-old boy, whom they did not identify due to his age.
Six MV Charges
Early on the afternoon of August 4, police charged Alcides Majia, 22, of New Haven with six motor vehicle offenses. Police said they spotted Majia driving on Route 34 without a visible marker plate, so they stopped him.
Police charged Majia with failure to display a marker plate, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without automotive insurance, misuse of marker plates, theft of marker plates, and driving without a license.
After posting $250 bail, police released him for an August 23 court appearance.
DUI Charge
Police report they spotted motorist Paul Provost, 61, of 28 Oakview Road driving northward on South Main Street with the vehicle crossing over the roadâs centerline and also crossing onto the road shoulder about 6:15 pm August 6.
Police said they stopped Provost on Peckâs Lane to investigate. While it was stopping, Provostâs vehicle almost struck a utility pole, police said.
After performing field sobriety tests, police charged Provost with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
After processing, police released Provost on $95 bail for an August 23 court appearance.

Main Street Collision
While driving northward on Main Street about 9 pm August 2, motorist Karen Savoca, 39, of 9 Hedge Meadow Lane, who was driving a 2001 Toyota 4-Runner, stopped to allow pedestrians to cross the street in the crosswalk in front of Edmond Town Hall, police said.
Northbound motorist Wendy Pedwano, 28, of Stamford, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Durango, then struck the rear end of the Toyota, police said. There were no injuries.
Police issued Pedwano an infraction ticket for following too closely.
Saab Vs Kia
About 4:09 pm August 5, a 1991 Saab 9000 driven by Gina Johns, 33, of Waterbury drove into the rear end of a 2004 Kia Sedona driven by Anand Mahesh, 39, of Danbury at the intersection of South Main Street and Mile Hill Road, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Johns for following too closely.
Driving Violation
Police said they spotted Bonnie Piccirillo, 50, of 55 Sugar Street driving on Route 302 at about 1:26 pm August 6. Police said they stopped Piccirillo and charged her with driving while under suspension. Police released Piccirillo on a promise to appear August 23 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.

I-84 Crash
Motorist John Tyburski, 26, of Derby, who was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee in the right lane of westbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, at about 2:43 am August 2, went off the left road shoulder, struck guardrailing and then rolled over, state police said.
Tyburski, who received cuts in the crash, was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment, state police said. Tyburski received an infraction for failure to stay in the proper lane.
Saturn Accident
Motorist Katherine Parr, 18, of Pine Bush, N.Y., who was driving a 1997 Saturn coupe eastward on Interstate 84, between Exits 9 and 10, lost control of the auto about 8 pm August 1, went off the roadway to the left, struck an embankment, spun across the road and then struck guard cabling along the right road shoulder, state police said. Parr was not injured. State police warned Parr for traveling unreasonably fast.
DUI Arrest
At about 6:30 pm August 8, police spotted motorist Angel Lema, 33, of Danbury stopped on the road shoulder on Mt Pleasant Road. Police said that on investigating, they found that Lema had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle and had the transmission in its âDriveâ gear.
Police charged Lema with driving under the influence and with drinking alcohol while driving. After processing the arrest, police released Lema on $100 bail for an August 23 court appearance.
Rock Through Window
Sometime overnight on August 6/7, someone threw a large rock through the rear windshield of a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country minivan that was parked in a residential driveway on Far View Drive, according to police. The vandal caused more than $250 worth of damage to the vehicle in the incident of second degree criminal mischief.
DUI Charge
Police said they saw motorist Kelly Collier, 19, of 8 Smoke Rise Ridge driving a 1997 Subaru Outback westward on Church Hill Road about 3:12 am August 9. As it traveled, the westbound vehicle was crossing into the eastbound lane, police said.
Police said they stopped the vehicle near Queen Street and gave Collier field sobriety tests, after which they charged her with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right.
After posting $100 bail, police released Collier for an August 23 court appearance.
Chevrolet Vs Buick
About 1:45 pm August 8, motorist Dennis Bickerstaff, 50, of Southbury, who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Impala eastward on Mile Hill Road, drove into the rear end of an eastbound 1990 Buick sedan driven by Adam Glazer, 18, of Monroe, police said. The collision occurred near Mile Hill Roadâs intersection with Queen Street. There were no injuries. Police gave Bickerstaff a written warning for following too closely.

Acura Into Tree
Police report that motorist Eric Bassett, 25, of 80 Birch Hill Road was driving a 2002 Acura RSX northward on Mt Pleasant Road about 7:06 pm July 29, when he passed a noncontact vehicle on the right in an area where there is only one northbound travel lane.
Bassett lost control of the Acura and went off the right side of the road, crossed a lawn at 24 Mt Pleasant Road and then struck a tree head-on, police said. Bassett received multiple injuries in the accident, according to police.
Police said they issued Bassett an infraction ticket for passing on the right, making a restricted turn, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Subway Burglary
Sometime overnight on July 30/31, a male and a female broke into the Subway sandwich shop at 71 South Main Street at Rickyâs Shopping Center, police said.
The pair forced entry into the shop by throwing a concrete block through a glass panel on the door, police said. Police said they have video surveillance tapes of the crime.
Approximately $1,500 in cash was stolen from the premises, police said. The incident constitutes burglary, larceny, and criminal mischief. Police are investigating.
Inky Incident
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Erich Dinnan, 16, of 23 Lake Road, who is a Newtown High School student, turned himself in at the police station on August 9 and was charged with second degree criminal mischief, police said.
Police said that Dinnan and several youths under age 16, who are also high school students, allegedly hurled containers of indelible ink at the highâs schoolâs exterior walls and patio area on June 2, defacing the structure. School officials have estimated the damage at $2,000.
Police said Dinnan was released into the custody of his father for an August 23 appearance at Danbury Superior Court.
On August 10, police arrested a youth under age 16 in connection with the incident, charging the youth with first degree criminal mischief and sixth degree larceny. Police released the unidentified youth for an August 29 appearance in Danbury Juvenile Court.
Police said they are continuing their investigation and expect to arrest the several more juveniles who allegedly took part in the vandalism.
Ford Vs Chevrolet
Motorist Carmen Serrano, 38, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Malibu southward on South Main Street about 1:13 pm August 9, stopped behind another southbound motorist who was stopped and waiting to make a left turn into Kingâs Restaurant driveway at 271 South Main Street, police said.
Southbound motorist William Malkin, Jr, 65, of 18 Queen Street, who was driving a 2005 Ford F-150 pickup truck, attempted to stop, but struck the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said.
 After the impact, Serrano reported neck pain, but did not want medical assistance, police said. Police issued Malkin a written warning for following too closely.
Bike Found
On August 10, a mountain bicycle was found in front of Booth Library at 25 Main Street. Police ask the owner to contact Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station, 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841, to claim the bicycle.
Sandy Hook Incident
Police said they received a call about 10 pm August 8 reporting that youths were gathering and drinking alcohol in the Alpine Drive neighborhood, so they investigated.
After arriving at Bancroft Road, police charged Brian Laub, 19, of 24 Brookwood Drive with possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics outside their original prescription container, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police charged Anthony Whitlock, 17, of 4 Main Street with possession of alcohol by a minor.
Police released both youths for August 23 court appearances.
MV Violations
Police report they saw motorist Manuel Costas, 46, of 138 Underhill Road cross over the roadâs dividing line on Bancroft Road about 8:30 pm August 10, so they stopped him to investigate.
Police charged Costas with failure to drive in the proper lane, driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle, misuse of marker plates, and driving without automotive insurance.
Police held Costa on $500 bail for an August 11 court appearance.
Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Nicholas Feola, 22, of 40 Algonquin Trail turned himself over to them at the police station on August 10 and was charged with second degree failure to appear in court, driving while under suspension, and failure to display a marker plate.
Police said the motor vehicle charges stem from an April 28 incident on Church Hill Road. Feola missed a July 7 court appearance in that case, police said.
Police released Feola on $400 bail for an August 24 court appearance.
South Main Crash
Motorist Akos Rathonyi, 72, of 100 Deerfield Drive, who was driving a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass northward on South Main Street about 11 am August 10, attempted to make left turn into the driveway at Amaral Motors at 40 South Main Street, but collided with southbound motorist Liu Yiying, 19, of 13 Roosevelt Drive, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Prizm, police report.
There were no injuries. Police issued Rathonyi a written warning for making a restricted turn.
