Bike Found
On August 10, a mountain bicycle was found in front of Booth Library at 25 Main Street. Police ask the owner to contact Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station, 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841, to claim the bicycle.
Sandy Hook Incident
Police said they received a call about 10 pm August 8 reporting that youths were gathering and drinking alcohol in the Alpine Drive neighborhood, so they investigated.
After arriving at Bancroft Road, police charged Brian Laub, 19, of 24 Brookwood Drive with possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics outside their original prescription container, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police charged Anthony Whitlock, 17, of 4 Main Street with possession of alcohol by a minor.
Police released both youths for August 23 court appearances.
MV Violations
Police report they saw motorist Manuel Costas, 46, of 138 Underhill Road cross over the roadâs dividing line on Bancroft Road about 8:30 pm August 10, so they stopped him to investigate.
Police charged Costas with failure to drive in the proper lane, driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle, misuse of marker plates, and driving without automotive insurance.
Police held Costa on $500 bail for an August 11 court appearance.
Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Nicholas Feola, 22, of 40 Algonquin Trail turned himself over to them at the police station on August 10 and was charged with second degree failure to appear in court, driving while under suspension, and failure to display a marker plate.
Police said the motor vehicle charges stem from an April 28 incident on Church Hill Road. Feola missed a July 7 court appearance in that case, police said.
Police released Feola on $400 bail for an August 24 court appearance.
South Main Crash
Motorist Akos Rathonyi, 72, of 100 Deerfield Drive, who was driving a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass northward on South Main Street about 11 am August 10, attempted to make left turn into the driveway at Amaral Motors at 40 South Main Street, but collided with southbound motorist Liu Yiying, 19, of 13 Roosevelt Drive, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Prizm, police report.
There were no injuries. Police issued Rathonyi a written warning for making a restricted turn.
