William P.      Hanson

Avid Outdoorsman

William P. Hanson, 39, of Sandy Hook, died unexpectedly August 5. Mr Hansen was born in Stamford September 2, 1966, a son of Elizabeth “Cathie” (McPherson) Hansen and the late Albert “Pete” Hansen.

He was a lifelong resident of Sandy Hook and attended Newtown schools. Mr Hanson was a truck driver in the construction trade and had last been employed by Casuto and Reliable Truck Companies. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and NASCAR racing.

In addition to his mother, Mr Hansen is survived by two brothers, Christopher P. Hansen and his wife, Maria, of Detroit, Maine, and Brian P. Hansen of Sandy Hook; a niece, Sarah Hansen and a nephew, Ryan Hansen; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning, August 10, in the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown. Interment was in St Rose Cemetery.
