OBITS (Killing; Hiney; Brown; Suttile; Felix)
Gerald W. Killing
Gerald W. Killing, 52, of 12 New Lebbon Road, Sandy Hook, died unexpectedly
June 20. He was a prominent Newtown and Southbury house builder.
Mr Killing was born in Bridgeport, April 22, 1946, the son of Alfred Killing
of Ludlow, Vt. and the late Patricia (Nolan) Killing. He was a lifelong
resident of Newtown and a graduate of Newtown High School.
He was past president of the Newtown Builders Association. During the Vietnam
conflict, he served in the US Navy.
Besides his father, he is survived by his former wife, Caryl Stratton; a son
John Hallock of Newtown; three daughters, Bridget B. Tuttle of Oxford, Sarah
J. Killing and Susannah Killing of Newtown; three brothers, Alfred Killing,
Jr, of Southbury, Robert Killing of Southbury and Richard Simon of Newtown;
two grandchildren, Jeremy and Shannon Tuttle; and an aunt, Marguerite Eldridge
of Sandy Hook.
Funeral services were held June 23 from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main
Street, Newtown followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St Rose Church.
Interment in Newtown Village Cemetery.

Virginia C. Hiney
Virginia C. Hiney, of Summit N.J., formerly of Bergenfield, N.J., and Newtown,
Conn. died June 19.
Mrs Hiney was the wife of the late Francis J. (Jake) Hiney. She was born in
New York City.
She was employed at the New York Telephone Company, N.Y., for 20 years. She
retired as a business office supervisor in 1950.
Mrs Hiney was active in the League of Women Voters, the Visiting Nurse
Association and the Garden Club, all in the Connecticut area.
She was a member of St Teresa of Aville Church, Summit.
Mrs Hiney is survived by two sons, Barry F. Hiney and John C. Hiney; a
daughter, Kathleen A. Hiney, and the late Myra F. and James L. Hiney; a
sister, Dorothy Russ; a brother, John O'Brien; a daughter-in-law, Brenda
Troisi; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a future date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Summit Public
Library, 75 Maple Avenue, Summit, N.J., 07901.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Brough Funeral Home, Summit, NJ.

Duncan Brown
Duncan Brown, 72, father of Duncan P. Brown of Newtown, died April 13 in the
West Haven Veteran's Hospital.
Mr Brown was born in Bridgeport and was a lifelong area resident. He was the
widower of Mary McLaughlin Brown.
Mr Brown was retired from the Spring and Buckley Co. He was a World War II
Navy Veteran, serving aboard the SS Cahalot , Pampan Ito , Proteus and
Greenlet submarines. He was a member of the American Legion Post #141,
Trumbull and VFW Post #10059. He was a member of the Fayerweather Yacht Club,
the Old Timers Association of Bridgeport, Bridgeport Lawn Bowling Association,
National Umpire American Lawn Bowling, Spirit of Black Rock Fife and Drum
Corps, US Senior Olympic Committee, the UB Court Club and the Milford Senior
Center. He was a former assistant Scout Master, an active member of the
Parents Organization of the Troubadores Drum and Bugle Corp, and past royal
chaplain of the Order of Scottish Clans.
Besides his son Duncan, he is survived by another son, James D. Brown of Fla.;
a daughter, Agnes M. Boncek, of N.Y.; a brother, Otto Wuennemann, of Monroe; a
sister, Annie M. Brown; two grandchildren, Laura Brown and Jessica Brandes
Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
Donations may be made to the Milford Senior Center, 9 Jepson Drive, Milford,
Conn., 06460, or the VA/GPF, VA Voluntary Services-135, 950 Campbell Avenue,
West Haven.
A Memorial Service was held June 20 at Black Rock Congregational Church,
Fairfield. Interment was private in Mountain Grove Cemetery.
The Larson Funeral Home, Bridgeport was in charge of arrangements.

Josephine Suttile
Josephine M. Suttile, 76, mother of Jo-Ann (Smith) Dempsky of Newtown, died
June 24 at Tandet Health Care Center.
She was the wife of Anthony A. "Kingfish" Suttile of Stamford. She was born in
Stamford on November 20, 1921, the daughter of the late John and Lucy Crocco
Ambrosio.
Mrs Suttile was an accounting clerk with General Electric Credit Corp for 20
years. She retired in 1984. She was also a member of St Mary's Roman Catholic
Church, St Mary's Senior Group and former president PTA K.T. Murphy School.
Besides her husband and daughter, she is survived by a son, Anthony A.
Suttile, Jr, of Oshkosh, Wisc; a brother, Pat Ambrosio of Stamford; a sister,
Vincetta "Vinny" Sabia of Stamford; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Smith
Connelly, William Smith, Christopher Suttile, and Michele Suttile.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home,
104 Myrtle Ave, Stamford, on Saturday, June 27, at 9:15 am. A Mass of
Christian burial will follow at 10 am at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 566
Elm Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, June 26, 4 to 8 pm.

John G. Felix Sr
John G. Felix Sr, 61, stepfather of Nadine Dolan of Newtown, died June 22, in
St Vincent's Medical Center.
He was the husband of Vera Georgetti Felix of Bridgeport.
Mr Felix was born in Pittsfield, Mass., and has been a long-time Bridgeport
resident.
He was a retired machinist for Sikorsky Aircraft and was formerly employed
with the General Electric Company.
Besides his stepdaughter, he is survived by two sons, Mark and John Felix Jr,
both of California; a stepson, Frederich Turner of Florida; two daughters,
Paula Olson of New Mexico, and Marion Felix of California; another
stepdaughter, Roseann Rich of Shelton; a brother, William Felix of Florida; a
sister, Gail Gilley of New Mexico; and several grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 26 at 9 am in St Andrew Church,
Bridgeport.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St Andrew Church, 435 Anton
Street, Bridgeport, Conn., 06606.
The Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull was
in charge of arrangements.
