P&Z Considers Hemlock Road Subdivision
The Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) is considering a request for a
three-lot residential subdivision on almost eight acres at Hemlock Road.
Several area residents spoke about the construction request from the Nagy
Brothers at an August 15 Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) public hearing.
Barbara O'Connor of Little Brook Lane said she had received the mailed notice
of the subdivision request and public hearing earlier that day, giving her
little time to review the proposal.
The terrain in the area of the proposed development is steep, Ms O'Connor
noted, adding that she hadn't seen a map depicting what the developers want to
do there. She asked what effect the proposed subdivision would have on the
nearby Pootatuck River.
Dawn Watson of Hemlock Road noted the proposed subdivision is right next to
her house. She asked for assurances that her property wouldn't be adversely
affected by the project.
A representative of the developers assured Ms Watson that the proposed
construction won't result in problems involving septic systems, domestic water
wells, or the nearby river, noting that the development proposal exceeds the
requirements of the town's land use regulations.
P&Z Chairman Stephen Adams asked that the developers present to the P&Z at its
September 5 meeting a US Postal Service affidavit proving that the developers
used certified mail to inform all property owners within 500 feet of the
development site of the August 15 public hearing.
