The Democratic Slate

To the Editor:

On July 24, the Democrats nominated Herb Rosenthal and Joe Bojnowski to run for another term in office. It was truly an honor to be there that evening, as several people shared the many things that have been achieved over the past ten years. From the progress at Fairfield Hills to the ever-increasing amount of land having been protected for open space to tax relief for our senior citizens; there has been a tremendous amount of successes and accomplishments during Herb and Joe’s years in office. This success has been met with challenges as well, but Herb and Joe have risen to the challenge each and every time. They have worked hard to keep preserve the character of Newtown we all know and love. Indeed, on the night of our caucus Herb acknowledged that he wanted to run the campaign based on these many accomplishments, not continue the negativity, rumors, and innuendos and divisiveness that have encompassed this town over the past few months. In the coming three months the Democratic ticket will continue to share the many accomplishments of the Rosenthal/Bojnowski team. The Democratic team will continue to listen to the voters from all of Newtown as we have for so many years.

Behind them we have a slate of highly qualified candidates seeking seats on Legislative Council, Board of Education, Edmond Town Hall Board of Managers, Police Commission, Town Clerk, Planning and Zoning, Board of Assessment Appeals, Board of Finance, and Zoning Board of Appeals.

Over the course of this campaign season, you will certainly hear from these many candidates.  In the mean time, I invite you to visit our website at www.thenewtowndemocrats.com to learn a little bit more about them. As always, we welcome your comments and questions. In addition, if you are interested in volunteering during the campaign season, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,

Sarah Hemingway
