Run For A Cure

The seventh annual Run For A Cure 3-miler will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22, at 9:30 am. The race will be held to raise money for the New Milford New York-Presbyterian Hospital Cancer Center and the Relay For Life of the American Cancer Society. There will be a $10 entry fee that can be paid that day between 7:30 and 9:15 am at the Roxbury Congregational Church on Route 317. The top overall male and female finisher will each receive a prize. There also will be a shorter children’s race that day at 9 am, which will have no entry fee. The races are sponsored by the Roxbury Recreation Commission, the Roxbury Road Race Series and the church. Walkers are encouraged and they will head out at 9:15 am, 15 minutes before the main races starts. Refreshments will be provided. Bowling Clinics

The Greater Danbury U.S. Bowling Congress is putting together an Open House Bowling Clinics in August. The clinic will be held Sunday, August 12, from 1 to 3 pm, at Lores Lanes. Free admission for bowling instructions from certified USBC coaches, including DVD recording before, during and after instructions. The clinics are open to all adults; children 99 through 17 years of age require a parent/guardian. All participants will receive 10% discount in the pro-shops and coupons for free games of bowling.

Rapids Fastpitch Tryouts

The CT Rapids fastpitch tournament travel teams will be holding tryouts for 2008 on Saturday and Sunday, August 25 and 26, at Veterans Park on Nova Scotia Hill Road in Watertown. Times for both days: U14, 10 am to 12 noon; U16, 12 noon to 2 pm; U18, 2 to 4 pm. Junior Bowling Leagues

Signups for the Lore’s Lanes Junior Bowling Leagues (ages 4 to 22) will be held Saturday, August 11, 11 am to 1 pm, at the lanes, 145D Danbury Road, New Milford. Bowling will start on September 8 at 9:20 am. Signup with a team or individual. Email bjm-fcyaba@comcast.net for more details.
