Rabiya Ansari and Bethany Trzasko banged out three hits apiece as Fireside Inn slipped past Flagpole Realty, 10-9, in Newtown Women’s Slo-Pitch Softball League action at Treadwell Park.

Kari Rustici, Sara Frampton and Jeanne Sampson all went 2-for-3 while Rebecca Piccini was 2-for-4 with a two-run double. Ansari drove in two runs to tie the game and then scored on a hit by Piccini. Ali Cordova, Laura Howard, Katie Barry, Anna Christopher and Courtney Waters all played well in the field.

For Flagpole, Ruth Rowe sparkled at shortstop while Patrice Fahey, Diane Lawrence and Jen Good were fantastic in the outfield.

CMC Quality Concrete defeated Grooming Finalists, 10-6, on Monday night as Noreen Guman went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and Peg Bowers went 3-for-3 with a triple, double and two runs scored. Michele Shettino and Liz Kiley each went 3-for-3 as Stephanie Pinto banged out a pair of hits.

For Grooming, Trish McCusker went 3-for-4 as Margaret Paniccia played well behind the plate and Donna Noone pitched a good game.

Dana Martenson drove in Margaret Paniccia and Pattie Noone in the seventh inning to lead Grooming Finalists past Newtown Exxon, 4-3, last week. JP Paynter and Lauren McCusker hit the ball well.

For Exxon, Rachel Dargenio, Justine Sumple and Mary Tucker banged out three hits apiece, each scoring a run in the process.

In recent action, Tre Regazze defeated Fireside Inn, 14-6, as Fawn Schmidt and Laura Terry each went 3-for-4 and Ticia Mullins went 2-for-5 with a triple. For Fireside, Katie Barry was 2-for-3 with a triple in the fourth and in left field produced all three outs in the third for the Fireside. Rabiya Ansari was 2-for-3 and Anna Christopher, despite the loss, pitched a good game.
