Don't Name The Innocent
Donât Name The Innocent
To the Editor:
I was appalled to read that in the article that was published on August 3 regarding the Jillian Gehrkens case that there was mention made of her two daughters by name. Where do you come off printing the names of these minor children? This is an outrage.
The other party in this case had his name protected and was not in print in any of these articles to protect him because he was a minor and yet these children were not given the same courtesy or rights. You really need to reassess the way in which you conduct your business. I have noticed in the past, that in some cases and articles, childrenâs names are printed and in others they are not. Especially in the police blotter. Do you just do whatever you want to sell a paper? Are there no rules? This is not responsible news reporting. The Newtown Bee is fast becoming nothing more than a ârag.â You are overstepping boundaries and crossing lines. Itâs disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourselves for such inferior news reporting, and ashamed that you allow Andrew Gorosko to be such a bottom feeder!
