Kita Macon At SCAN, August 23
Kita Macon of Huntington will be painting a character portrait in pastel with a water media base at the next meeting of The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown. The group will meet on Wednesday, August 23, at 1:30 pm.
The demonstration is open to the public free of charge. It will be at Newtown Meeting House, at 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole).
Kita Maconâs still lifes and portraits reflect her classical painting style, while her landscapes lean more toward impressionism. In April 1997, American Artist magazine featured an article by her on her indirect painting style in oil.
Ms Maconâs painting style was developed after 35 years of experimentation and study. She has studied with Daniel Greene, Lajos Markos, Everett Raymond Kinstler and Greg Kreutz, among others.
Ms Macon is a signature member of Oil Painters of America, Pastel Society of America, Connecticut Pastel Society and North Shore Art Association of Gloucester. She was one of the founding members of the now nationally recognized Degas Pastel Society in New Orleans, and she has won many top awards across the United States.
