Anders Receives Grant From France

(with cut)

M. Barrett Anders of Newtown has received a grant from the French government,

under the auspices of the cultural services department of the French embassy,

to spend three weeks in France this summer researching second language

acquisition in young children.

Mrs Anders has been teaching French to young children i the United States for

more than 15 years, and she is a consultant on the subject. She has designed

and implemented a foreign language program for children that is on file as a

model program at the Center for Applied Linguistics in Washington, D.C.

Mrs Anders is currently writing a book on foreign language education for young

children in America and plans to incorporate her research results into her

book.

She and her husband, William Anders, live on Grand Place in Newtown.
