SNAPSHOT: JOHN WILL

Occupation: I am a specialist at Dade Behring, a diagnostic blood analysis

firm in Newtown, where I troubleshoot and train people to assemble blood

analyzers.

Family: My wife, Maureen, and I have been married 15 years and have lived in

Newtown for the same amount of time. We have a six year-old daughter,

Katherine. A first-grader at Sandy Hook School, Katherine is a ton of fun,

excited and curious about everything.

Pets: We have a dog, Peaches, a sharpei, and two cats, a black and white kitty

named Spot and a long-haired gray feline who just recently acquired us.

Biggest Change in Town: I have mixed feelings about the growth in the town's

population. I think that it's wonderful that so many people want to live here,

but it is putting a slight strain on the town's infrastructure.

Organizations: I am captain of Sandy Hook Fire and Rescue. One of my duties is

to manage the Newtown Cairns Iris Fund, a fund separate from the fire

department's daily operation budget. We are attempting to buy five infrared

cameras, state of the art fire fighting devices for the town. Through tag

sales and other fund raisers we are on our way to acquiring our first camera,

which costs $25,000.

Books: I read historical books, particularly those dealing with technological

change. I am very interested in how the railroad infrastructure has changed

over the past 150 years. We have far fewer trains because it's far less

important to people to use them at this time. Trains, however, will never be

obsolete. Costing less than trucking, they are the most efficient way to move

freight.

Movies: I go to few movies and watch little television.
