SPIRITED SALE FOR FREEMAN

(with 1 cut)

PHILADELPHIA, PENN. -- A Winter Gallery Auction held by Freeman/Fine Arts on

December 11 and 12 was fueled by the holiday spirit and a shorter sale (two

days instead of three).

Featured were porcelain, paintings, furniture, mirrors, Oriental rugs,

sculpture, French bronzes and silver. The sale totalled over $600,000.

Highlights included a Lavar Kirman rug, in wine, old ivory and green, with

floral vine motif and a decorated band border, signed, 10'3", (est $1,2/1,500)

which sold for $11,760.

A pair of Meissen porcelain covered jars, Nineteenth Century, decorated with

floral buds and figures in a coastal landscape, 6Ô inches high (est $600/800)

sold for $6,160; an oil on canvas by Emile Auguste Hublin, "The Shrimp Girl,"

1880, (est $6/8,000) sold for $15,680; and four small watercolors by Andrew

Wyeth, four by five inches each, "Barn in Winter Landscape," "Houses in Winter

Landscape," "Elf Mounting a Christmas Ornament," and "Riding Through a Winter

Landscape," realized $4,816, $5,152, $7,840 and $9,880 respectively.
