Lambos Are
Doing Well
John Lambo and his son, Jonathan, who underwent a rare live-donor liver
transplant surgery on December 14, are doing well.
Mr Lambo told The Bee on Wednesday that Jonathan, 14, has been running a low
grade fever, perhaps from an infection, but that doctors believe he will be
able to be released from Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City by
New Year's Day.
In the surgery a portion of Mr Lambo's liver was removed and transplanted into
his son, whose liver was failing because of a genetic disorder.
"I'm fine," Mr Lambo said. "I worked at home last week and went back to work
this week."
Mr Lambo said tests have shown that his liver already has grown back to its
normal size and Jonathan's new liver has grown to fill the space occupied by
the original liver.
The Lambos live on Country Squire Road in Sandy Hook.
