Ulrich-Nims Resigns From School Bd
Peggy Ulrich-Nims resigned from the Board of Education on Tuesday because her
family is moving to Massachusetts this week.
A Democrat, Mrs Ulrich-Nims has served on the school board since 1995, when
she was appointed to replace Michael Osborne.
In a letter to Board of Education Chairman Amy Dent, First Selectman Herb
Rosenthal, Democratic Town Committee Chairman Earl Smith, Jr, and
Superintendent of Schools John Reed, Mrs Ulrich-Nims expressed her
appreciation for the opportunity to serve on the board for the past three
years.
"It's with heartfelt thanks for this opportunity that I go on to a new
community, hoping that the schools, staff and board are as effective and
committed as each of you," she wrote.
"The opportunity to work with each of you and to know each of you has been a
significant part of my years in Newtown, and I most certainly wish my tenure
here had been longer. I look forward, however, to continued contact as I
follow the exciting issues ahead from afar."
The Democratic Town Committee will recommend a replacement for Mrs Ulrich-Nims
on the school board.
