Pootatuck Park Builder Ordered To Cease And Desist
The town has issued an order to a builder in Pootatuck Park to correct erosion
and sedimentation problems at his construction site caused by recent heavy
rains.
Town Conservation Official C. Stephen Driver said Tuesday said he has issued a
cease-and-desist order to builder Gerald Cahill who plans to build four houses
in Pootatuck Park. The building lots are on Walnut Trail and Cricket Trail.
Site preparation for the home construction has resulted in sedimentation
problems on Maplewood Trail, Mr Driver said. The conservation official said he
has received many calls on the problem from neighborhood residents.
A silt fence and other erosion and sedimentation devices on the construction
site haven't been functioning properly, causing the problems, Mr Driver said.
The order issued to Mr Cahill March 23 instructs him to replace a section of
silt fence which had been removed and to repair other sections of silt fence
within 10 days, or the matter will be turned over to the town attorney.
Erosion and sedimentation problems were caused by the heavy rains on March
21-22, Mr Driver said. Mr Cahill has said he will comply with the order,
according to Mr Driver.
