Peck's Lane Arson Probe Continues
Fire investigators are continuing to probe the suspicious nighttime June 11
fire that destroyed a vacant house at 24 Peck's Lane, causing an estimated
$70,000 in damage.
Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company Chief Bill Halstead, who also
serves as a deputy fire marshal, said the blaze was apparently set.
Firefighters from Botsford, Newtown Hook and Ladder, and Sandy Hook responded
to the scene to find a wood-frame house totally engulfed in flames.
The building has been condemned by the town due to extensive damage.
It is believed that an accelerant, such as gasoline, was used to ignite the
blaze.
