ED INK: Good Speed To The Class Of '98

People pass little milestones every day. We chronicle them for Newtowners each

week in these pages - births, deaths and many of the lesser rites of passage

in between. Graduation day at Newtown High School remains one of our favorite

landmark events. It is certainly one of the grandest. At no other time do so

many of our citizens pass such a significant milestone at the same time. At no

other time do we find so many elated people all together in one place. The

high spirits are infectious, and we are always happy to be present at

graduation.

On this happy occasion, we wish the graduates of the class of 1998 good speed.

Later this year, they head off in every direction; many grads will leave town

on paths that may never bring them back permanently. We trust, however, that

they will always carry something of their school and community with them

wherever they may go.
