Trespassing Arrest Made After Nighttime Scuffle
Police said they were called to a Dock Drive residence in the Riverside
section about 2:50 am June 23 where a homeowner had confronted a local man who
had been found in the homeowner's yard.
The unidentified homeowner became involved in a struggle with the man and then
detained the man until police arrived, police said.
The homeowner had been told by two girls who were sleeping in a tent in his
backyard that they had heard and seen someone walking on the property, leading
to the man's discovery by the homeowner, police said.
Police charged Kennith Northrop, 28, of Alpine Drive, Riverside, with
third-degree criminal trespassing and breach of the peace. Police held
Northrop on a $10,000 bond for an arraignment later that day in Danbury
Superior Court.
After being arraigned, Northrop posted a lower bond and was released for
another court appearance July 7.
On June 23, the state police's Western District Major Crime Squad sent its
evidence van to the Dock Drive address to collect physical evidence, Newtown
police said.
Police declined to provide further details on the incident.
