OBITS (Rahikka; Ziperstein; Megill; Roe)

Richard R. Rahikka

Richard R. Rahikka, 77, husband of Janice (Hull) Rahikka of 31 The Boulevard,

died June 22 in Danbury Hospital. He was born in Port Chester, N.Y., September

8, 1921, son of the late Toivo and Aune Rahikka.

A carpenter by trade, he was a member of Local 210 of the Carpenter's Union.

During World War II, he served in the US Army.

He is survived, besides his wife, by one son, Mark Rahikka of Tuckahoe, N.Y.

Private funeral services will be held Friday, June 25, at the Honan Funeral

Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Cremation will take place in Mountain Grove

Crematory. There are no calling hours.

Taylor A. Ziperstein

Taylor Ann Ziperstein, 3« months, daughter of Howie and Janet (St Amand)

Ziperstein of 5 Charter Ridge Road, Sandy Hook, died in Yale-New Haven

Hospital, New Haven, on June 22. She was born in Danbury on March 5, 1999.

She is survived, besides her parents, by her maternal grandparents, Nancy and

Samuel St Amand of Rockfall; her paternal grandparents, Harriet and Alan

Ziperstein of Stamford; aunts and uncles, Cindy and Carmine Nuzzi of Stamford,

Kevin Ziperstein of Norwalk, Diane and Joseph Snyder of Middlefield, Joann and

Russell Caffrey of Middletown, Sheila and Paul St Amand of Durham, Lori and

Simone St Amand of Middlefield, Daniel St Amand of Middletown; great-uncle,

Robert Dascanio of Middlefield; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street,

Newtown, on Friday, June 25, at 1 pm. Interment will be in Zoar Cemetery,

Sandy Hook.

Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday from 7 to 9 pm.

Shirley V. Megill

Shirley (Velardi) Megill, 62, of 22 Underhill Road in Sandy Hook, died June 22

at Danbury Hospital after being stricken at home. She was the wife of Donald

J. Megill.

Mrs Megill was born in New Haven on March 15, 1937, the daughter of Ella

(Muzzi) Velardi of Phoenix, Ariz., and the late Anthony Velardi. She retired

in 1998 after nine years of service working at Sandy Hook Elementary School

for Marriott Food Service. She was a communicant of St Rose of Lima Church of

Newtown.

Besides her husband and mother, she leaves a daughter, Mrs Michael (Kathleen)

McNamara of Northford; sons, Michael Megill of North Haven and Jerome P.

Megill of New Haven; a sister, Carolyn Esposito of Phoenix, Ariz.;

grandchildren Christina and Ryan Megill, Matthew McNamara and Jacob, Shannon

and Amanda Megill; and two nieces and a nephew.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington

Avenue, North Haven, on Friday, June 25, at 9:30 am. A Mass of Christian

Burial will be celebrated in St Barnabas Church in North Haven at 10 am.

Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.

The visiting hours were scheduled for Thursday, June 24, from 4 to 8 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital, 332 North

Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38101.

Linda Roe

Linda Cavaliere Roe, 56, of Hattertown Road, Newtown, died June 17 in Glen

Hill Convalescent Center, Danbury. She was the mother of Gerald Cavaliere of

Newtown and Joycelyn Kowats of Newtown.

Born in Bridgeport, October 13, 1942, she was a former resident of the

Southport section of Fairfield.

Wife of the late George Roe, she is survived by another son, Jeffrey, of South

Carolina; her devoted friend, Raymond Sabia; one brother and three sisters;

and six grandchildren.

The funeral was held June 21 from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street,

Newtown to St Rose Church, Newtown, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment

was at Resurrection Cemetery.
