Local Man Killed Crossing Main Street

A local man who was struck by an auto while crossing Main Street on foot on
the night of October 15 later died as a result of injuries he suffered in the
accident.
Police said resident Wolcott Toll, 78, of 4 Pocono Road, Hawleyville, was
walking across Main Street north of the crosswalk at Edmond Town Hall at about
9:10 pm October 15 when he walked into the northbound travel lane of the road
and was struck by a northbound 1993 Cadillac DeVille, driven by Allen Storch,
77, of 39 The Boulevard.
Mr Toll suffered extensive head injuries, plus right ankle and leg injuries in
the accident, police said.
The impact of the crash threw Mr Toll to the shoulder of the northbound lane,
police said.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the regional paramedic responded to
the accident scene, transporting Mr Toll to Danbury Hospital for treatment,
according to police.
Mr Toll died at the hospital from his injuries approximately 13 hours later,
police said.
Mr Toll's body was taken to the chief state medical examiner's office in
Farmington where an autopsy was performed to determine the cause of death. The
autopsy results will be included in the police investigation into the
accident.
