OBITS (Tucker; Managan; Chause; Faller (memorium); Burns)

Irwin W. Tucker

Irwin (Ike) W. Tucker, 83, of Fairfield, father of Nancy L. Schulz of Newtown,

died February 13, in St Vincent's Medical Center.

Born in Bridgeport, Mr Tucker was a lifelong Fairfield resident. He was a

retired art teacher at Trumbull High School with 25 years of service. Mr

Tucker was a scholarship student and graduate of the National Academy of

Design in New York, received his bachelor's degree from Yale University and

master's of education Degree from the University of Bridgeport. Mr Tucker

spent a sabbatical year as a student of the Academia in Florence, Italy.

He was a founding member and past president of the Fairfield Creative Arts

Association and the Connecticut Woodcarvers Association, a former scout master

of Troop #99, Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the VFW, Post 9427. Mr

Tucker was a World War II Army veteran, serving in Patton's 3rd Army.

In addition to his daughter, survivors include his wife of 55 years, Frances

M. Tucker of Fairfield; two sons, John L. Tucker of Bridgeport and William C.

Tucker of Shelton; two other daughters, Elizabeth C. Tucker of Fairfield and

Jane F. Tucker of Santa Monica, Calif.; one sister, Florence Riddell of Azel,

Tex.; an American Field Service son, Supat Infahsaeng and his family of

Fairfield; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and

nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 20, at 2 pm in First Church

Congregational, Fairfield, with the Rev David W Spollett officiating.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours were

scheduled for February 18 from 2 to 4, and 6 to 8 pm, in the Spear Funeral

Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.

William Managan, Jr

William F. Managan, Jr, 79, of 1 Kingsbury Road, New Fairfield, died February

11, at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Jane L. (Covill) Managan and

the stepfather of Kathleen Wade of Newtown.

Born in Maybrook, N.Y., October 1, 1919, he was a son of William, Sr, and

Hazel (Greene) Managan. He graduated from Brewster High School.

Mr Managan served in the US Army during World War II.

He was a machinist for the former Gilbert & Bennett Co of Georgetown, retiring

in 1984 after 38 years of service. He had a great love for music and dancing

as well as being an avid woodworker. He was known for fine furniture and

detailed birdhouses.

Mr Managan was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.

Besides his wife of 25 years and his stepdaughter, he is survived by his sons,

William D. Managan of Woodbury and Keith and Dennis Managan; his sisters,

Althea Nelson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Millie Rita Winters of Sherman Oaks,

Calif.; his stepchildren, Robert Corbett of Bethel, Jay and Amelia Corbett of

Virginia Beach, Va., Ronald and Jaya Corbett of New Milford and Thomas and

Suzann Corbett of Brookfield; 18 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; and several

nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury,

on February 15. Burial was in Mountainview Cemetery, New Fairfield.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Northville Baptist Church,

Youth Ministry Fund, 9 Little Bear Hill Road, New Milford, Conn. 06776.

Irene Chause

Irene (Golembeske) Chause, R.N., 75, of Stratford, beloved wife for 50 years

of John J. Chause, died February 12, in Bridgeport Hospital. She was the

sister of Alyce Rowins of Newtown.

Born in New Milford, she was the youngest of seven children of the late

Stanley and Gladys Golembeske. Formerly, Mrs Chause had lived in Fairfield and

prior to that Monroe.

She was a graduate of St Vincent School of Nursing, Class of 1945. After a

career in nursing, she became an administrator of Bridgeport Healthcare Center

(formerly known as Dinan Memorial), retiring in 1990. She was a lifelong

member of an area canasta club.

In addition to her husband and sister, she leaves a daughter, Susan Leach of

Rhode Island; a son, James; and four grandchildren, Sarah, Meghan, James, Jr,

and Kristen.

The funeral was held on February 16, in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main

Street, Stratford, and in St Mark Church, Stratford, with a Mass of Christian

Burial. Interment followed in Maple Grove Cemetery, Easton.

Elsie Fisher

Elsie Fisher, born in Brooklyn, N.Y., October 10, 1910, died in Florida on

February 7. She was the sister of Madeline Grafton of Newtown.

A lifelong Bridgeport resident, Mrs Fisher had retired from Columbia Records.

In addition to her sister, she is survived by her son, Ernest; two other

sisters, Ernestine Becker of Vermont and Geraldine Chartier of Bridgeport;

eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her

son, Gilbert Fisher.

Paul Burns, Sr

Paul F. Burns, Sr, 74, of New Milford, husband of Helen (Kittredge) Burns,

died at Cedar Lane Rehabilitation Center in Waterbury, on February 13. He was

the brother of James Burns of Newtown.

He was born in Middletown, N.Y., on November 11, 1924, son of the late Edward

and Mildred (Byrne) Burns.

Mr Burns was a US Army World War II veteran, serving in the European theater.

He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was employed as an accountant of the

State of Connecticut at Fairfield Hills Hospital, retiring after more than 30

years of service.

After retirement, Mr Burns resided in Florida for 10 years before moving back

to the greater Danbury area. Mr Burns celebrated his 51st wedding anniversary

on February 7.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Paul F. Burns of New Milford; two

daughters, Cheryl Stevenson of Northfield, and Barbara Seifert of Seattle,

Wash.; one other brother, Andrew of Stamford; three sisters, Mary Casazza of

Watertown, Margaret Sanford of Bethel and Anita Samaha of Danbury; five

grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers.
