Larceny And Forgery Charges Lodged Against Trudeau
TRUMBULL -- Trumbull and Waterbury police May 6 filed criminal charges against
Newtown businessman William Trudeau, Jr, 34, of 49 South Main Street, Newtown.
Trumbull police said Mr Trudeau surrendered to them and was served with two
arrest warrants in connection with incidents that occurred in January and last
October.
Trumbull police said a warrant listing one count of second-degree larceny and
one count of second-degree forgery was executed against Mr Trudeau in
connection with his cashing of two payroll checks at Peoples Bank on Quality
Street. The checks in the amounts of $3,000 and $3,800 were cashed on January
22 and 23, Trumbull police said.
Also, Trumbull police served another warrant against Mr Trudeau listing one
count of third-degree larceny and one count of second-degree forgery. The
charges stem from alleged incidents in which Mr Trudeau fraudulently cashed
four payroll checks of approximately $500 each last October 11, 13, 14 and 15
at the Stop and Shop supermarket in Trumbull, police said.
After Mr Trudeau posted a $12,500 Bridgeport Superior Court appearance bond
for the charges stemming from the Trumbull incidents, he was turned over to
Waterbury police who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on a charge of
issuing a bad check.
After being charged on the bad check count, Mr Trudeau was released on a
promise to appear in Waterbury Superior Court.
Newtown police are still investigating a January 2 nighttime drive-by shooting
in which Mr Trudeau was shot in the leg at Trudeau Service Center, 49 South
Main Street.
Large-caliber bullets and bullet fragments were recovered at the scene, and
police say they are still waiting for the results of forensic tests on that
evidence.
