Celebrating Catholic Schools Week At St Rose
(with cut)
BY ANN MARIE COHEN
St Rose School celebrated Catholic Schools Week, January 31-February 5,
joining 8,300 other Catholic schools in the nationwide celebration.
The theme of Catholic Schools Week this year is "Faith for a Brighter Future."
A series of special events and activities took place, beginning with a
traditional family pancake breakfast, followed by an open house on Sunday,
January 31. The open house gave visitors a chance to get acquainted with St
Rose School and to meet with Principal Donna DeLuca.
Other scheduled events included Bus Driver Appreciation Day, Crazy Hat and
T-Shirt Day, and Spirit Day with an evening faculty versus eighth grade
basketball game. The week ended with a Grandparents and Special Person Day
last Friday.
The grandparents and special persons began the morning with mass and were then
welcome to visit and observe classes in session. Lunch was served in the
church hall, where guests joined their grandchild or special student for a
tasty lunch of ziti, served in the church hall. Co-chairs Karen Kelly and
Lucille LaPerch were largely responsible for the planning and organization of
the week's events.
