P&Z Elects Fogliano As Chairman
BY ANDREW GOROSKO
Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) members have elected Daniel Fogliano as
chairman of the panel, which regulates local development.
P&Z members unanimously elected Mr Fogliano to a one-year term as chairman at
a December 3 meeting. He has served as vice chairman for the past year and
joined the P&Z in the fall of 1996.
Mr Fogliano, a Republican, replaces Stephen Koch as the chairman.
Due to a heavy business schedule, Mr Koch opted not to seek reelection to the
chairmanship, instead nominating Mr Fogliano for the post.
In the voting, P&Z members elected Mr Koch to a one-year term as vice
chairman. Mr Fogliano nominated Mr Koch for that position.
Mr Koch, A Republican, became P&Z chairman in April 1997 after then-chairman
John DeFilippe resigned from the commission.
In other action, P&Z members elected Heidi Winslow, a Democrat, to another
one-year term as commission secretary. Ms Winslow, the senior P&Z member, has
served as secretary for many years.
There was no competition for any of the three commission posts.
In other business, P&Z members named Sue Lorusso to serve as the commission's
administrative clerk for the coming year. Ms Lorusso replaced Janet Burns who
left town employment last June for a post with a private firm.
The P&Z formulates and interprets the town's plan of development. It creates
and implements regulations governing land use. The elective panel has five
regular members and three alternate members.
